Belmont Shore Optometric was established in 1985 and our mission from the very beginning is to provide a personalized eye care experience that focuses on the specific needs and challenges of your eyes. Our dedication to honest and ethical services and embracing technological advancements is why so many Long Beach residents continue to entrust their eyecare to us for over 30 years and we are part of the American Optometric Association and California Optometric Association.
Dr. Chiao is licensed therapeutic optometrists with glaucoma certification and is trained in the treatment and management of eye diseases, speciality contact lenses, and preoperative and postoperative care of patients. They are credentialed on major vision insurance and medical plans such as VSP (Vision Service Plan), Eyemed, MES (Medical Eye Services), Superior Vision, Medicare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Humana, and Scan.

Dr. Elaina Chiao
Dr. Elaina Chiao graduated cum laude with a degree in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine and received her doctorate of optometry from Southern California College of Optometry. During her optometric training, Dr. Chiao performed her externships at the renowned Center of the Partially Sighted (Los Angeles, CA) and the VA Ambulatory Care Center in Downtown LA. She received honorary awards in Low Vision and Optical dispensing training during her optometric education.
After graduation, Dr. Chiao continued her training and worked in a large group ophthalmology practice where she evaluated both children and adults with strabismus, amblyopia and treated a wide range of ocular diseases from foreign body removal to management of patients with kerataconus and corneal transplants. Dr. Chiao moved to Long Beach with her husband in 2004 and at that time joined Belmont Shore Optometric. In 2013, partnered into the practice and became sole owner in 2018. She loves living in Long Beach with her husband and 2 boys.
