Eye health is just as important as the rest of your health and eye health begins with yearly eye exams. Comprehensive eye exams can reveal a whole host of existing and potential problems. They are the first line of defense against serious eye health issues such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, eye infections and other conditions.
Regular eye exams also enable you to enjoy optimal vision. Your eye doctor uses the most advanced technology to ensure visual comfort, accuracy and acuity so you can live life to the fullest at work, home, sports and in everyday life.
Children’s Vision
Children need to have regular routine eye exams, too. Your child’s first eye exam doesn’t have to wait until they know their ABCs. For children, your eye doctor uses child-friendly images and techniques to evaluate your child’s eye health and vision so your child doesn’t have to know how to read or identify letters in order to have their first eye exam.
We recommend bringing your child in to see the eye doctor as soon as he or she turns three years old, and certainly before they begin school. Poor vision could impact their enjoyment of and success at school. Of course, if you detect any problems with vision before that, don’t wait to bring your child in for an eye exam.
Retinal Imaging
We offer Optus retinal imaging for all of our eye exam patients. Optos is an ultra-wide digital retinal imaging system. It enables the doctor to capture over 80% of the retina in just one panoramic image. This improves the doctor’s ability to discover signs of disease and other potential problems as early as possible. With eye disease as with other diseases, early detection is key to positive treatment outcomes. Using Optus retinal imaging, the eye doctor is better able to detect things like macular degeneration, glaucoma, hypertension and diabetic retinopathy. The digital image is like a map of the retina, called an Optomap. Using this advanced technological tool, the eye doctor can analyze and diagnose issues. He is also able to document the condition with physical printouts. Finally, the eye doctor can monitor the condition with continued use of the Optus retinal imaging tool.
Don’t risk your overall health by ignoring your eye health. With regular eye exams, you and your children will have the best possible outcomes for optimal vision your whole lives.
